"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" behind-the-scenes look debuts at Disney D23 Expo

LOS ANGELES, July 15 -- A new behind-the-scenes look at "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" debuted at the Disney D23 Expo 2017 at the Anaheim Convention Center in the western U.S. state of California on Saturday.

Disney, Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm presented their live-action film slates this morning, where Director of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" Rian Johnson, and cast members Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro appeared on stage to meet the fans. The audience was then treated to a special sneak peek of behind-the-scenes footage from the highly anticipated movie.

In Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of "The Force Awakens" join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. It will debut at U.S. theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.

Earlier this year, Disney also announced that both the California Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando will open 14-acre Star Wars-themed land in 2019, which will be named "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge".

The D23 Expo unveiled a large-scale detailed 3D model of this new land, which has a cantina, a marketplace, and two major attractions: Piloting the Millennium Falcon, and an adventure putting visitors in the heart of a battle between the rebels and the First Order.

"There is such a huge draw for Star Wars, so many people know about it," Joann Dailey, a long-time Star Wars fan dressed up as Princess Leia, told Xinhua at the scene of D23 Expo. "For Disney and Star Wars to get together, that's like the perfect marriage of things that's just wonderful."

Disney D23 Expo, which began on July 14 and which lasts three days, provides fans with unprecedented access to Disney films, television, games, theme parks and celebrities.
