A deadline set by Islamic State Militants has passed and there’s no word on the fate of a Jordanian pilot or his fellow hostage, a Japanese journalist. The militants had threatened to kill the airman at sunset unless an al-Qaida prisoner was freed from death row in Jordan.

A gas truck exploded in a Mexico City shattering a maternity and children’s hospital. At least two  people were killed and dozens injured. Officials believed the blast was caused by a leak in the truck’s hose.

Opening statements began Thursday in the high profile murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez. Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated the killing of semiprofessional football player Odin Lloyd then covered it up.

And Senator John McCain has some choice words for anti-war protestors demonstrating during a budget hearing. “Get out of here you low-life scum” The code pink protestors were heckling former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger which let McCain to lash out the group and have been removed from the room.
