CCTV9英语新闻:Protesters, gov't agree to 'several rounds' of talks

The Hong Kong regional government and representatives of the protesters have held a second round of preliminary talks. Lau Kong-wah, the under-secretary of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, said some consensus has been reached, and that both parties have welcomed further talks.

"We have agreed on three principles of the dialogue. Now I will read them out: First, we both welcome further talks. In principle, several rounds of such negotiations would be held. Second, both sides would have equal standing in the talks. We hope to have a frank, direct, and mutually respectful dialogue. Third, if the talks can yield any outcome, the government will confirm and execute any outcomes. The three above-mentioned principles have been agreed upon," Lau said.
