Brazilian fans drive World Cup ticket demand

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 15 -- Fans purchased 126,837 tickets in the first four hours of the final World Cup sales phase on Tuesday, according to football's governing body FIFA.

More than 80,000 tickets were bought by Brazilians, while strong demand also came from the USA, Colombia, Argentina, Germany, Mexico, France, England, Chile and Australia, FIFA said in a statement.

About 200,000 tickets for 54 matches were made available on Tuesday morning on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fixtures already sold out are Brazil-Croatia, Mexico-Cameroon, England-Italy, Argentina-Bosnia Herzegovina, Brazil-Mexico, Spain-Chile, Cameroon-Brazil, Croatia-Mexico, Australia-Spain and the final.

The World Cup will be held in 12 Brazilian cities from June 12 to July 13.
