CCTV9英语新闻:Netanyahu says negotiation will be tough

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, says he expects peace talks with the Palestinians to be tough.

At his weekly Cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said any agreement with the Palestinians would have to be ratified in a national Israeli referendum. Israel’s guiding principles will be to maintain a Jewish majority in Israel and to avoid a future Palestinian state backed by Iran.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced the resumption of peace talks over the weekend, putting an end to a five year deadlock. Kerry said the two sides will meet in Washington soon.
