Though the Lunar New Year is still two months away, cross-Straits flights have almost sold out. However, travelers needn't fret just yet - the Taiwan civil aviation authority says it will allow airlines to increase the number of flights between the mainland and Taiwan during the holiday.

The first batch of cross-Strait flights for the Spring Festival period is nearly fully booked, with the Shanghai and Guangzhou routes selling fastest. Taiwan aviation authorities have demanded operators to cap ticket prices for a certain flights, a move welcomed by travelers.

Chinese New Year is the busiest time of the year for the transportation infrastructure, with workers and relatives making the trip back home.
