agog to do sth.

All London was agog to see the two “parents”of radium.

That set the whole town agog with excitement.

The prospect of Christmas left the children agog.

She arrived, agog, to discover what had prevented him being there.

1. all [有时more] agog。例如:

The voters were all agog to see their new president.

They were even more agog during the much publicized Banana Dance when she danced with only a curtain of bananas round her waist.

注:杨发河著《英语形容词句型活用指南》(江西高校出版社1992年12月第1版)p16:agog前不用very,如不说very agog,而说much[very much] agog。

2. agog at sth.。例如:

He was all agog at the surprise announcement.

3. agog for sth.。例如:

The villagers were agog for the news.

4. agog with sth.。例如:

The children were all agog with excitement at going to the seaside for summer holidays.

5. agog over sth.。例如:

She was all agog over her new granddaughter.

6. agog about sth.。例如:

In Britain commentators and policy makers are agog about a new U.S. doctrine, unveiled by President George W. Bush in a commencement address at West Point.
