Beijing to Offer 80,000 Job Vacancies for College Graduates
The Beijing municipal government will offer 80,000 job vacancies through more than 100 career fairs and an array of online job sites, in a bid to help college students find jobs amid the global economic slowdown.
Zhang Zude is Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Personnel. He says the government will take advantage of the Internet to better help college graduates get detailed information about the job market.
"We don't support large-scaled and ineffective job fairs any more. We are working to offer small-scaled, effective and information-based career services. For example, if job seekers log onto our official website, they can get the information on job vacancies offered by employers from Beijing's 18 districts and counties."
Figures from the 'Beijing Municipal Education Commission' show that more than 200,000 local college graduates are expected to enter the job market this year, around seven and half percent more than last year.
Authorities will organize special career fairs for college graduates and campus recruitment in the coming months.
The government will also provide career counselling and training for graduates, with additional support to be given to those with physical disabilities or those from low-income families.
